I had a sizable stash of acrylic yarn by another brand. We all know the one. After I tried Basix, I was "hooked." I donated or sold off my old stash and replaced it with Premier yarns. I love the softer texture and lack of splitting, especially since I'm a crochet teacher. It makes it much easier for my students to see what I'm doing when the yarn is in one piece!
