EN71-3 Certificates

Premier Yarns is always looking to provide not only high-quality yarns, but yarns that are safe for you and your families. While we do not sell toys, we recognize that many of our customers use our yarns to create toys whether for personal or business use.

We have conducted testing on some of our yarns to comply with both EN71 and ASTM F963.

About the Certifications:

EN71 Toy Safety Standard provides guidelines for the safety and quality of toys. Compliance with this standard is mandatory for all toys sold in the European Union. EN71 testing involves evaluating a toy’s safety by assessing its design, manufacture, and materials. This assures your toys are safe for use by children.

ASTM F963, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety, incorporates relevant safety measures already required under federal law and includes additional guidelines to prevent potential hazards.

These are our yarns that currently have EN71-3 and ASTM F963 certification including links to the certificates:

While we have tested these yarns, any additional items you may add to your toys such as eyeballs or buttons are not covered under these certifications.

OEKO-TEX Certificates

What is OEKO-TEX?

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class A Certification means that our yarns have passed the highest standard, suitable for direct contact with the most sensitive skin, even babies and small children.

They have been tested for over 350 harmful substances by independent laboratories, and certified NOT to contain harmful levels of irritants, allergens or carcinogens.

Anti-Pilling Acrylic Certificates

What is Anti-Pilling Acrylic?

Acrylic fiber is widely used for textiles of all kinds: clothing, upholstery, carpets, and of course yarn. Acrylic is strong, lightweight, warm, soft, and resilient making it the yarn of choice for many.

But acrylic has a tendency to form pills – those hard little balls of tangled fibers on the surface of a fabric that make your clothes look worn way too soon. The same fine surface fibers that give the fabric its soft feel clump together and become enmeshed. Pilling is most likely in the areas of a garment that are subject to friction, like sleeve cuffs or under the arms.

Anti-pilling acrylic fiber is specially formulated to resist pilling over time. If and when pills do form, they are removed through the simple process of machine washing your sweater or other project. No picking, no shaving - just toss it in the wash! Sweaters and blankets made with anti-pilling acrylic come out of the laundry looking fresh and new, time after time.

Organic and Recycled Cotton Certifications

It takes, on average, 20,000 liters of water to produce 1 kilogram (35.2oz) of cotton. By crafting with our recycled cotton yarn, you are saving up to 2,000 liters of water for every 100 grams (3.5oz) of yarn.
